ONE DAY NATIONAL LEVEL SEMINAR ON “INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR)”

IQAC and Department of Commerce had organized a National Level Seminar on World Intellectual Property Rights, on 26th of April 2023 at College Auditorium. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp which enlightened the dignitaries and the audience seeking the blessings.

Mr. Amrit Somaiah, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Madikeri, Mrs. Hema, Head, Department of Business Administration & IQAC Coordinator-the organizing secretary, Mrs. Muthamma M B, Asst. Professor, Department of BCA & Convenor of the event, Mrs. Drishya, Head, Department of Commerce were the luminaries chaired the stage.

The programme was welcomed by Mrs. Hema, Head Department of BBA, IQAC Coordinator. The Chief Coordinator of the event, Mrs. Trupti Bopanna Principal, St. Anne’s Degree College addressed about the WIPO theme for the year, “Women & IP”. Accelerating creativity and innovation celebrating the, “Can Do” attitude of women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs and their ground-breaking work.

Mr. Amrit Somaiah, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Madikeri, the Keynote speaker of the day articulated the basic knowledge of Intellectual Property and its impact where Intellectual Property is all about Human Creativity and Legal Protection where one must be skilful at their execution of ideas that mainly impacts on every individual where WTO played a vital role in right.

As a token of appreciation, the Chief Patron of the Event, Correspondent Rev. Fr. Isaac Ratnakar, St. Anne’s Institutions, Virajpet offered a memento to Mr. Amrit Somaiah.

The guest speaker CA. Anwesh Shetty was introduced by Mrs. Nirmala M T, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration. CA. Anwesh Shetty explained about several types of IPR such as Copyright, Patent, Trademark and Geographical Indications that mainly summarizes about the registration aspects and exploit ideas into implementation. Different Trademarks was also explained where one must know and have the basic knowledge towards it.

The first session was successfully wound up and Mrs. Trupti Bopanna Principal, St. Anne’s Degree College, offered the memento to the guest speaker, CA. Anwesh Shetty.

Mr. Madappa B B, Advocate, Virajpet took over the second session which was started around 1:30 pm. Guest introduction was given by Mr. Joyson Lobo, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.

As the session began, he overviewed on Intellectual Property Rights and its laws. He described that WIPO and WTO are the main organizations that regulates the IPR. He defined IP as executively created for a person which nobody can copy it and specified that only when Intellectual Property is registered it can become an Intellectual Property Rights.

As a token of gratitude, Correspondent Rev. Fr. Issac Ratnakar honoured the guest speaker Mr. Madappa B B. Mrs. Trupti Bopanna, Principal addressed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Accamma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application.
