A CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training program was conducted at St. Anne’s Degree College, Virajpet, on 10th October, 2024 in collaboration with JSS Hospital, Mysore, Youth Red Cross wing and NSS unit of the college.
Dr. Adarsh S B & Dr. Nayan H B, Assistant Professors, Department of Emergency Medicine, JSS Medical College, Mysore, were invited as the guest speakers. Dr, Adarsh underscored the value of a balanced diet, regular exercise, yoga, and overall physical activity in maintaining good health. Dr. Nayan highlighted how learning CPR is essential, as it can make the difference between life and death in an emergency.
Mrs. Trupti Bopanna, Principal of the college, noted the rise in heart attack incidents linked to modern lifestyles and emphasized the importance of everyone acquiring CPR skills to potentially save lives. She also encouraged regular physical exercise as a proactive measure for heart health.
The practical CPR training was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Adarsh, with assistance from Dr. Nayan and Dr. Arpita of JSS Medical College, Mysore. They meticulously guided students through every step of performing CPR, emphasizing critical actions during emergencies. Additionally, Dr. Niranjan, an ECMO specialist from Cadre International Medical College, Bangalore, enriched the session by sharing advanced life-saving techniques. A team of 10 students from their institutions also assisted in guiding the college students, ensuring hands-on learning and skill development.
Mrs. Hema B D, IQAC Coordinator & Head of BBA Department, Mr. B.N. Shanthibhushan, NSS Program Officer, Ms. Vileena Gonsalves, YRC Officer, faculty members, and 110 students were present in the program.
The training aimed to empower students with life-saving skills, promoting health awareness and community well-being through practical CPR knowledge.
