International Yoga Day – 2024

The International Yoga Day was organized jointly by the NSS Unit and Youth Red Cross wing on 21st June, 2024 at 10:00 am in the college auditorium, which underscored yoga’s significance in fostering concentration and aiding in the recovery from various ailments. This articulated the need for students to disseminate awareness about yoga’s benefits in society, recognizing its potential to alleviate a spectrum of health issues.
The event was graced by Mrs. Trupti Bopanna, Principal, St. Anne’s Degree College, who emphasized yoga’s global outreach and its recognition as a cultural asset of India. She highlighted the ongoing celebration of the 10th International Yoga Day with the theme, “Yoga for Self and Society”.
In the presidential address, Rev. Fr. Madalai Muthu, Correspondent, St Anne’s Degree College, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and enhanced the importance of yoga, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing both physical and mental strength. He highlighted the profound impact of yoga on individual well-being, emphasizing its role in promoting physical resilience and mental stability.
The dignitaries shared the dais were Mrs. Hema B. D, IQAC Coordinator and Head of BBA Department, Mr. Raja Rai, the Director of Physical Education, Ms. Vileena Gonsalves, Youth Red Cross Officer, Mr. B. N. Shantibhushan, NSS Officer, underscored the pivotal role of yoga in today’s context, illustrating its transformative potential.
The program featured interactive sessions where students actively participated in yoga exercises under the guidance of Mr. Raj Rai and Mr. Arjun H. R, emphasizing the practical application of yoga principles. These sessions aimed not only to demonstrate physical postures but also to instill an understanding of yoga’s holistic approach to health.
The NSS and Youth Red Cross volunteers actively engaged in discussions about yoga’s broader implications for societal well-being. They explored how yoga can serve as a unifying force in promoting health awareness and cultivating a culture of holistic living.
In conclusion, the celebration of International Yoga Day highlighted yoga’s profound impact on physical and mental well-being. The event not only celebrated yoga’s ancient roots but also affirmed its contemporary relevance as a tool for achieving balance and harmony in modern life. 50 Participants left with a renewed commitment to integrating yoga into their lives.
