Guest Talk on “Women & Law”
On September 28th, 2024, the Women Empowerment Cell and the Women’s Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized an insightful talk on the topic of “Women and Law”, with the aim of promoting legal awareness among young women.
The keynote address was delivered by Mrs. Hema B.D., IQAC Coordinator, who encouraged students to actively engage in the session and take full advantage of the knowledge shared. The session was led by Ms. Shrunga Somanna, Advocate and State Organising Secretary of the KPCC Legal, Human Rights, and RTI Department. She provided the students with in-depth legal insights on crucial topics such as Sexual Harassment, Property Rights, and Domestic Violence, while also explaining relevant acts and sections. Ms. Shrunga further outlined the procedures for filing complaints and navigating the redressal mechanisms available to women.
An interactive question and answer followed, where students clarified their doubts about women’s rights. Mrs. Trupti Bopanna, Principal, motivated students to stand up for their rights.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. Muthamma M.B. and Mrs. Sunitha S., and the session was informative and beneficial to all the first-year female students.
Outcome: Students became informed about the legal protections and support systems related to women’s rights and issues.
