Back

St. Anne’s Degree College established the “Women Anti-Harassment Cell” in 2017 in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment and guidelines issued in 1997. These guidelines were aimed at enforcing the basic human rights of gender equality. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued circulars since 1998 to all universities, advising them to establish a permanent cell and committee to address violence against women and ragging in universities and colleges. It further encouraged universities to create a conducive atmosphere on campus where women’s status is respected and they are treated with dignity. Following these guidelines, this cell functions in our college under the effective and efficient guidance of the principal, coordinator, and assistant coordinator from various departments of the college.

OBJECTIVES

• To equip female students, faculty, and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.
• To provide a platform for listening to complaints and redressing grievances.
• To develop principles and procedures for combating harassment
• To work out details for the implementation of the policy.
• To prepare a detailed plan of action, both short-term and long-term.
• To organize gender sensitization awareness programs.

Thus, this cell provides a safe academic and working environment for all female students and employees, as well as a healthy and congenial atmosphere for staff and students alike.
