World Environmental Day – 2024

To mark the protection of the environment, the World Environmental Day (Vanamahotsava) was celebrated by planting the saplings in the green area of the college on 5th June, 2024.
Nature Club, National Service Scheme unit, and Youth Red Cross wing of the college jointly organized the program.
The chief guest Dr. Madhukumar, Deputy Range Officer, Virajpet, in his addressing the gathering explained how each sapling plays a vital role by creating a micro environment which in turn protects the nature around it, helping the birds to build their nest, Provides shade, retains underground water and also provides fruits and nuts. He also explained the causes of natural calamities and increasing temperature, and how each sapling that suits the environment must be planted and protected.
He said that youth have an important role to play in saving the environment.
He also highlighted that the protection of the environment is a social service rendered to society and the whole world.
The correspondent, Rev. Fr. Madalai Muthu, in the presidential position, highlighted that the depletion of nature is nothing but killing oneself. Various saplings were planted in the premises of the institution.
Fr. James Dominic, Correspondent, St Anne’s Institutions and Parish priest of St Anne’s Church Virajpet, Mrs. Trupti Bopanna, Principal, St Anne’s Degree College, Mrs. Hema B. D, IQAC coordinator, Mr. James, Convenor, Nature Club, Mr. Shanthi Bhushan, NSS Officer, Ms. Vileena Gonsalves, Youth Red Cross Officer, faculties and students of PU and Degree college took part in the drive.
